My personal experience has resulted in lower fares with the right reservation officer, rather than on line. I have also "bid" and wasted time with the right reservation officer to obtain a better fare, time and flight, as my experience finds errors in what is posted. While the factual information is helpful, I recommend always calling your travel agent or the airline reservation desk, especially if a conference meeting discount is offered.
